The healing potential of a therapeutic combo: Sound Healing and Facial Reflex Therapy

A powerful healing experience!

My Sound Healing research, using sacred instruments both on their own and as integrative healing tools in a holistic therapeutic session, led me to combine Sound with Facial Reflex Therapy and discover the healing potential of this profound healing modality. It has been of great interest to observe how healing frequencies of sound are able to intensify the work on the nervous system accessed through the face and initiate the healing by creating a vibrational change.

A sound immersion bathes you in deep relaxation restoring self-alignment, synchronizing the brainwaves and facilitating the rehabilitation of your cells to normal vibratory frequency, or to resonance which is your original vibratory frequency. In his books Jonathan Goldman explains in great detail how sound can resonate our body, our brain and our etheric field.

Everything is frequency and in a state of vibration. All matter vibrates at specific frequencies, including our body, our organs and the cells in our body. We are in optimal health and wellbeing when we have a normal resonant frequency, but if that frequency begins to shift then that part of our body is vibrating out of ease, we say it is dis-eased. This is basically the principle of using sound as a transformational and healing tool: “Sound can change molecular structure”¹ restoring that part of the body back into its healthy resonance to repair damaged tissue and cells within the body and reinstate the harmonious energetic, emotional and mental function. The impact of Sound on human cells has been extensively studied since the ’80 but we also know that the ancient Mystery Schools held a deep knowledge of sound and vibrational medicine, using sonic energy for healing and to achieve altered states of consciousness.

In "Gong Consciousness: Self-Healing Through The Power of Sound" Dr Jain Wells includes a chapter of focused research with the gong - with many examples of emotional, psychological, physical and spiritual healing feedback from participants. Says Dr Wells: "The gong is an amazing tool... because of the incredible emission of sound frequencies that affect both body and mind....... The impact on your energy field and consciousness is significant."²

Says Dr. Mitchell Gaynor: “If we accept that sound is vibration and we know that vibration touches every part of our physical being, then we understand that sound is heard not only through our ears but through every cell in our bodies. One reason sound heals on a physical level is because it so deeply touches and transforms us on the emotional and spiritual planes. Sound can redress imbalances on every level of physiologic functioning and can play a positive role in the treatment of virtually any medical disorder.”— Dr. Mitchell Gaynor, director of Medical Oncology and Integrative Medicine, the Cornell Cancer Prevention Center in New York.

The therapeutic benefits and transformative power of Sound for healing on physical, emotional, mental, etheric and spiritual levels are today backed up by much fascinating scientific research and studies. “In the early ‘80s, Fabien Maman conducted biology experiments at the University of Jussieu in Paris, showing the impacts of acoustic sound on human cells and their energy fields. Maman found that through a series of acoustic sounds, cancer cells would explode and healthy ones became energized and empowered. Using a Kirlian camera, Maman was able to document what happens to the energy fields of healthy human cells when exposed to acoustic sound. He discovered that the color and shape of each cell and its subtle energy field (Aura) changed according to the pitch and timbre of each musical note.” ³ (Unsoeld)

Similarly to Sound Healing, Facial Reflex Therapy aims at stimulating the brain and nervous system and initiate the healing process. The face is richly supplied with nerves. Its closeness to the brain means that stimulus perceived by your senses take the shortest possible route to the control centre of the body to potentially address your health imbalances. It is not a case that most of our senses, vision, smell, hearing, taste, are in our face so that the messages to the brain have a short route to travel.

Developed in 1988 (by Lone Sorensen), Facial Reflex therapy Sorensensistem™ applies the principles of foot reflexology, working on micro maps of the body, through our most visible feature: the face. Its roots date back many centuries and it is based on a wide variety of traditions and practices, merging Chinese meridians theory and acupuncture, ancient body maps from Chinese, Vietnamese, Japanese traditions and indigenous tribes of South America, with the study of modern neurology of the face and modern science of neuroanatomy. Through these maps and 12 major Chinese energy meridians, this methodology allows the therapist to identify imbalances in the client’s health and provides the knowledge to begin the process of healing with the potential to balance the individual on all levels, that is, physically, psychologically and energetically.

Clients frequently report a restored energetic state and an enhanced feeling of well-being, feeling calm, grounded, centred, focused and with a clearer mind, essentially “back home to themselves”– with the addition of a glowing complexion and a happier outlook. It also helps to cope with stress and keep health in optimum condition.

Facial reflexology helped thousands of people with all sort of complains and has also proven to be very effective in helping children suffering from learning and behaviour difficulties and also in the rehabilitation of patients with brain injuries and neurological problems and those with a dis-ability.

Facial and Neuro-Foot-Reflexology Bipolar Method is a special protocol of Facial Reflex Therapy for trauma, severe stress and deep emotional issues. It consists on manually stimulating different areas and points of micro-systems on the face, scalp and feet to release trauma and emotions stored in the body’s cell memory, in the limbic system and the amygdala. The method Lone Sorensen use is based in various microsystems with scientific studies behind Dr Yamamoto (YNSA), Japan; Dr Castillo Morales, Argentina; Dr Wong, USA; Dr Chau, Vietnam; Maria Perez, Argentina; Dr J. Bossy, France.

With Trauma-Bipolar Therapy, the body and brain's hormonal levels will regulate the neurobiological process and balance neurotransmitters, such as serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine and release anti-stress hormones. When the balance of the internal chemistry is normal, you will feel in peace within yourself and with the external world. Thanks to that, you will regain energy to be able to control your world again, feel sharp, clear, and focused.

Both Sound Therapy and the Facial Reflex Therapies are so effective because they influence our emotional and energetic bodies as well as our physical. Trauma and deep-seated emotional issues are at the root of many physical and spiritual dis-eases.

Sound and facial expressions (and muscles) are deeply connected to emotions and the brain.

Both sound and facial reflex therapy can be used to unlock the blocked emotions and release old trauma; they help you to find inner peace and reach a deep state of relaxation to a level of meditative state and an altered state of consciousness where it’s possible to break down old patters and create new positive ones. This level of calm relaxation where stress is dissipated, will aid to regulate breathing and heartbeats and help the body to release emotional toxins as well as old traumas stored in both the conscious and subconscious mind.

In addition to these two methodologies, I also use appropriate essential oils for their therapeutic aromatic energetics and Sacred Oils for their healing vibrational frequency and spiritual work.

I really love working this way, combining these two healing modalities together is very powerful as they seem to work synergistically. The session is of course longer (90 minutes of which 45 minutes working on the face) and more complex but truly holistic as it integrates several levels.
