About the event

Join me in this practical and informative workshop and learn about this ancient therapeutic modality.

In these teachings we will honour the Traditional Oriental Medicine origins of Gua Sha.

Just like all Oriental traditional treatments, gua sha was primarily a health care practice addressing internal imbalances which of course manifest externally also through our face and skin.  Due to its therapeutic application, gua sha works on meridians and acupressure points, making it a health treatment as well as a beauty treatment, if used with that intention.

WHAT WILL I NEED FOR THE WORKSHOP?

In this workshop we will use a Jade Gua-Sha jade board (other crystals are fine if that's what you have).

If you don't have a gua sha at home no worries, you can use very effectively a spoon (Chinese soup spoons are great), gua sha is about the action of scraping rather than a fancy too! Otherwise, if you would love to own a gua sha tool, you can find them in my website and I will send you one before the workshop

Warning: if you buy a gua sha from amazon or ebay please be careful with the crystal you are buying, it must not be treated chemically and ethically sourced. We'll talk about this at the workshop.

Please also have a natural face oil or moisturizer with you.

SOME BENEFITS OF GUA SHA

Gua sha tunes up our own internal self-healing mechanism, stimulates the immune system, detoxifies, regulates functions and organs, removes blockages and pain, revitalizes and regenerates, diminishes stress, relaxes and promotes a healthy state of being.

Gua sha helps release stagnation, muscle tension and tightness. It decongest the skin and improve blood circulation, so it is rejuvenating and preventative for acne and breakouts.

It helps decongest the sinuses and has shown lasting effects for combating hyper-pigmentation, dark circles and puffy eyes. Many patients swear by its ability to iron out fine lines, remove eye bags, tighten the face and reduce fatigue and insomnia.

“Regular facial gua sha promotes the growth of new skin cells, helps renew your complexion and can effectively reduce clogged pores, control acne and pimples, reduce acne scars, tighten the chin and enhance the ability of your skin to absorb products,” said Zhuo Junqing, a doctor at Chinese medicine health care centre of Beijing Modern Hospital.

WHY CONSCIOUS FACIAL RITUALS?

These “Me time rituals” help you to focus on yourself and be full present in your body, in the here and now, while coming out of your head and feel positive and serene. A conscious facial massage helps you to relax your mind and your facial muscles, encouraging the letting go of the negative emotions trapped in your face that cause tension, tightness and that contracted look in your face that makes you age faster. Ageing is a natural process, but its visible signs can be delayed and youthful appearance can be extended by means of exclusive massage techniques, lymphatic drainage, acupressure and facial exercises... and a positive attitude!
